Now I am jealous. To my certain knowledge, I've never had a Painted Bunting visit my yard.
A first for me, Dorothy!
How pretty, I just love Painted Buntings! We've only had one visit from them as far as I know and it's been three or four years. Very nice photos. A friend tells the story about seeing them while camping with her family as a young and how her dad thought she was making up a story when she described these bright, colorful birds!
They really got my attention and I called my wife out to see them when I went for the cam. The female ran the male off the water. :)I had never heard of them, much less seen any. According to Wiki, they love the type of savannah habitat we have here next to this creek we live on.
I'm jealous, too. I've heard they're around our area, but we've never seen one here.Glad you didn't miss it.
Glad I was able to get them photographed , Linda, and glad to share it.
Lucky indeed to see these beauties..thanks for sharing them.
Thanks for stopping by for a look , Donna.
Texas is great for birds! Lovely. I miss the Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. I haven't seen the Painted Buntings either.
I love the Scissor-tails, too, Hannah. These were a toatl surprise to me. I`ve never studied birds extensively and am basically familiar with our types here that are all over . It`s so cool to be surprised and so cool to have the internet to almost instantly find out what that surprise is!
How fortunate that you were able to capture a few pictures. And they are in your homemade birdbath too! Maybe you can create a market for Randy's Bunting Baths? The female reminds me of a titmouse.
I may never see another one , but at least I had the great fortune to catch these. I think the BB has some perfecting yet, but thanks. :)
